뜻바다 위바다

바다는 지구 표면에서 소금물로 채워진 부분으로, 얼어붙은 바다는 유빙(流氷)이라고 부른다. 일반적으로 대양과 연결된 넓은 해역을 의미하며, 카스피해나 사해처럼 육지에 둘러싸인 경우도 바다로 분류하기도 한다.
바다는 지구 표면의 70.8%를 차지하고 있다. 해양의 면적은 3억 6,105만㎢에 이르고, 해수의 부피는 13억 7,030만 km³에 이른다. 해양의 깊이를 평균하면 4,117m가 되며, 최대 깊이는 11,034m이다.
바다에는 소금이 덮여 있기 때문에 어는점이 평균 섭씨 -1.91도로 담수보다 어는점이 낮지만, 캐나다나 러시아 등 한대 기후 지역에 위치한 바다는 얼어붙기 쉽다.
